Atlanta is one of the fastest-growing cities in the Southeast, with a booming tech, media, and business sector. Emory and Georgia Tech students frequently sublet during summer internship season, making Midtown, Druid Hills, and Virginia Highland some of the most active student sublet markets in the South. Atlanta's CNN, Delta, Coca-Cola, and tech sector drive substantial summer intern housing demand.
SublettingU lists verified student sublets near Emory in Druid Hills, Virginia Highland, and Decatur, and near Georgia Tech in Midtown, Tech Square, and West Midtown. Atlanta's market is active in summer — use the AI search, filter by MARTA transit access and proximity to campus, and set up alerts.
Student sublets in Atlanta range from $1,000 to $1,900 per month for a room in a shared apartment. Midtown (near Georgia Tech) and Druid Hills (near Emory) are similarly priced at the mid-to-high end. Virginia Highland and Little Five Points offer more affordable options with great neighborhood character. Most furnished summer sublets include utilities — important given Atlanta's summer heat and AC costs.
For Georgia Tech: Midtown and Tech Square (walkable to campus) and West Midtown are most popular. Old Fourth Ward and Inman Park are slightly farther east but popular with grad students. For Emory: Druid Hills (immediately adjacent to campus) and Virginia Highland are the top choices. Decatur is an excellent alternative — walkable downtown, slightly lower rents, and good bus connection to Emory.
March through April. Georgia Tech has one of the strongest co-op programs in the country — students rotating out of Atlanta for co-op terms sublet their apartments year-round. Emory students with summer research fellowships or internships outside Atlanta post in spring. Atlanta's warm climate also makes it a popular summer intern destination, driving demand from visiting students.
MARTA rail and bus serve both campuses but coverage varies by neighborhood. Georgia Tech is served by the North Avenue MARTA station (Red/Gold lines). Emory has limited MARTA rail access — the #36 Emory bus connects to the Avondale MARTA station. A car is helpful but not essential for students living within the immediate campus neighborhoods. Rideshare is widely used as a supplement.
